Mirage Compass

Simplicity defined, the Mirage Compass is now upgraded to both forward and reverse with the power of the MirageDrive 180 pedal system and Kick-Up Fins. Patented Kick-Up Fin Technology takes the worry out of kayaking in shallow, structure-filled waters by automatically retracting upon impact. Outfitted with a breathable mesh seat, the Compass offers maximum stability and an oversized cockpit and flat deck for standing. A sharp turning radius makes this fishing kayak nimble in tight quarters, yet able to speed over open water in stealthy fashion. Kayak fishing features include molded-in rod holders, H-Track accessory mounts and a transducer cavity ready for you to install a Lowrance® fishfinder.

  1. hobie compass review 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Oct 2017

Picked up my new hobie compass from del paddlesports last week and tried it out Friday. First of all let me say the guys at the shop are great and super helpful. They stayed late to let me pick up my boat due to traffic and a late start coming from PA. They also welded the leak in my old outback and got the boat back to me in a day. I've been in an outback for 14 years and extremely happy with its fishing capabilities. I was going to get a new outback until I researched the compass. I took it out Friday night in the bay it was choppy and there were some small rollers and white caps at times. The boat is extreme stable in chop, it peddles good, the revolution shaped now definitely cuts through the water better than my outback and it felt more stable while fishing in chop. It paddles extremely fast and the seat is awesome compared to my old style outback seat. Stood up in it in the lagoon to test it and it was easy to stand. Next time I go I am gonna use my turbo fins to see how much faster it will peddle compared to the stock find it comes with. I am a minimalist fly fisherman so the open cockpit without all the trays and pockets and the other bells and whistles is perfect for me. Gadget guys might be better off in an outback or PA or you will spend a lot of time upgrading and adding stuff. All in all a great boat for the money and pretty sure I made the right choice for my style of fishing over a new outback.
