One of the simplest, fastest and most efficient ways to use the Bixpy on a kayak is on the rudder of the kayak. However, not all kayaks have rudders and the ones that do, don’t always offer a robust enough rudder mount to run the motor well and without damaging the kayak.  
 
The Bixpy Universal Rudder Adapter is designed to give you the option to mount a rudder on virtually any kayak. If your kayak already has a robust 10mm pin hole for a rudder, all you need is the Bixpy Universal Rudder Adapter. If your kayak doesn’t already have a 10mm pin holder for a rudder, you can purchase the Bixpy Gudgeon, which provides a super robust and adaptable 10mm rudder pin holder for your Bixpy Universal Rudder Adapter. 
 
The Bixpy Universal Rudder Adapter features a pull cord, a kick up feature and “lock-down” for reverse speeds. 
 
We also offer two options for steering your rudder, a hand steering option and a foot pedal option, each sold separately.

Bixpy J-1 Installations - Universal Rudder WillFit™ Adapter (06:42)
In this video, we take you through the installation of the Bixpy J-1 PowerShroud™ Motor using the Bixpy Universal Rudder WillFit™ Adapter. The kayak used for installation is a Wilderness Tarpon 120. The Tarpon 120 already has two inserts for the installation of a rudder adapter. So we used one of our Bixpy gudgeons (https://bixpy.com/bixpy-simple-gudgeon/) to allow for the rudder installation. The rudder adapter (also known as a gudgeon) is a 10mm (3/8") adapter that is common on many kayaks that allow for rudder installation. If your kayak doesn't have pre-drill inserts and holes to install a rudder adapter (gudgeon), or if you want a more sturdy adapter, you can use our larger gudgeon (https://bixpy.com/bixpy-willfit-gudgeon/). For steering, we used the Bixpy Foot Steering kit (https://bixpy.com/bixpy-foot-pedal-steering-system/).
