The evolution of the legendary Chinook PFD continues. Combining our Orbit Fit System™, an artfully shaped back flotation panel, and the extensive pocket configuration that’s kept the Chinook a best-seller for over ten years, anglers won’t find a better-fitting, higher-performing jacket.

Product Details

  • The Orbit Fit System layers multiple pieces of lightweight closed-cell foam cut to precise specifications to create a unique, flexible, pre-curved shape that effortlessly conforms to your body.
  • The NRS Every Body Design™ philosophy combines innovative technologies that reimagine how a PFD fits and performs, eliminating the need for men’s and women’s specific models.
  • Graded Sizing takes into account the appropriate amount of flotation needed for individual body types, resulting in a better-fitting, more comfortable life jacket for all.
  • Back flotation panel conforms to an angler’s back, ensuring a flush fit.
  • A mesh lower back offers added ventilation on warm days.
  • YKK® zipper entry plus adjustments on shoulders, side and waist secure the life jacket and provide a custom fit.
  • Two large clamshell pockets, sized for fly and tackle boxes, with internal organization.
  • One exterior pocket on the angler’s right side offers easily accessible storage.
  • Tool holder pocket for quick access to pliers or line cutters with hook-and-loop closure and an integrated rod holder for hands-free tasks.
  • Sustainable construction combines a recycled ripstop nylon shell with a recycled nylon inner that protects PVC-free Ethafoam shims.
  • Silicone-coated inner waistband helps hold the PFD in place when swimming.
  • Features 3M® reflective accents, shoulder strap keepers, and multiple attachment points on front and back for knife, lights, strobes, etc.

  1. Great Fishing PFD! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Feb 2025

For years I wore an XPS brand PFD that was full length (zipped collar up to neck). I used it for a long time, well beyond when its zippers had broken on all of the storage pockets.

The Chinook is superior in every way.

The zippers are much bigger and more durable. I’m someone who liked to have some pockets on my PFD to keep a few items close at hand (key lures, hook file, clippers, etc.). The Chinook has plenty of room for these items – so much room that I can stow my NocQua external battery (for my GoPro) without straining the zipper.

The open chest and sides of the Chinook make it both comfortable and breathable. I’ve used it in the kayak and from shore and never get tired of wearing it. Sometimes I forget it’s even there.

We all know that we should keep our PFDs on when on the water, but we also know that they often become annoying – but not the Chinook. Like I said before: sometimes I forget I’m even wearing it until I need to reach for something and it’s already right there in my vest’s pouch.

The NRS Chinook PRD has the comfort, room, and durability that any fisherman needs on the water and it looks great besides. I highly recommend it, the NRS Chinook Lifejacket is the best PFD I’ve ever worn.
